Prepare a case study of a development organization directly involved in community work at the grassroots level (in Canada or developing countries).
The case study should be focused on two important organizational aspects;
(i) the community in which the organization works,
(ii) major development approaches employed by the organization.
This assignment can be organized in the following three major sections:
1. Introduction: Provide a brief background of the development organization, including its evolution, philosophy, organizational ideology and values, goals, geographical location, structure, and size, etc. [Length of this section: 350-450 words].
2. Community Profile (People with whom the organization works): The community profile provides context for conceiving, designing, and implementing a specific project. Please provide a brief profile of the local community that participates or is targeted in various development projects of the organization. This will include historical as well as contemporary information on sociocultural, economic, political, geographical, and ecological factors and problems experienced by the community. A well-written profile provides direct or indirect information on;
(a) sociocultural, economic and ecological background of the community,
(b) development problems, capabilities and vulnerability experienced
(c) complexity or challenges involved in the development work. [Length of this section: 600-700 words].
Note: If the organization is working in multiple countries/regions, this section may focus on one specific country/ region/ community of your choice. Please provide this information or clarification at the beginning of the section.
3. Development Approach: This section gives an overview of major development interventions made in the community by the organization in the last 5-7 years. Based on the course readings, class discussion, and literature on development theories, describe how this organization views development. [Length of this section: 600-700 words].
