Starting as a pre-med biology major, I was like any other confused college student. I did not know what I wanted to do. Nonetheless, I struggled with pre-med courses. My academic life took a huge turn sophomore year of college. Losing my father to a sudden head-on collision shattered my world. I hit a stage when I lost hope and faith. However, my family pushed me to attend church and resort to prayers. Which, with time, pulled me out of the dark place I had fallen into. With the support of my family, church, and community; I was able to re-route my academic life to a direction with which I am extremely pleased. Changing my major to Criminal Justice, graduating in three years and a half, ending my last three semesters with a 4.0, and now waiting for acceptance letters from law schools is the best outcome I could have ever hoped for. My academic career pushed me in the right direction. I am very eager to use my future JD degree to contribute to my community along with the legal and criminal justice system.
