Help me study for my Statistics class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

Scenario:

An I/O psychologist was hired to investigate a stress reduction program at Tools R Us.  The company believes that the workers are not disconnecting themselves from their work when out of the office causing excessive workload and burnout. 50 participants are randomly selected from the work place at Tools R Us. All participants are given a 20 item stress inventory, the IPSI, to measure their stress.  For a period of 1 month, all participants were restricted from company internet, email, and work tasks outside of the workplace.  All participants were again given the same 20 item stress inventory after the 1 month.  Higher stress scores on the Industrial Psychological Stress Inventory (IPSI) indicate greater work related stress.

Research Question: Does disconnecting from work while outside the office reduce stress of employees?

IPSI Score Before Disconnecting: The subject’s scores on the Industrial Psychological Stress Inventory before disconnecting from work.

IPSI Score After Disconnecting: The subject’s scores on the Industrial Psychological Stress Inventory after the one month of disconnecting from work.
